V10-11: I've always wondered if this verse was referring to the fact that a person who truly believes in their heart WILL confess with their mouth. In other words, won't be ashamed as mentioned in 11. Any help?
V13: Reading this chapter in Spanish today, and I love that the PERMANENT "to be" is used in shall be saved. Not might be. Not if you live right enough, work hard enough, get baptized, etc...
V14: How shall they hear without a preacher? Instead of throwing my hands up in disgust for the way the majority of this world is living/thinking/acting, I should ask myself this question. Then answer it with Lord, send me!
Ch. 10 1. V. 3-4 So often we establish or own righteousness instead of submitting to Gods. God has an opinion on everything I do, say, think, look at, listen to, wear, and feel. What I think may be OK or cool may not slide the same with God. His righteousness is the only true righteousness. Mine and yours are corrupted. We have to consult what He says in his word to know whether something is truly right or wrong, not just or own ideas or conscience. 2. Salvation is so simple. Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth. If you truly believe with your heart you won't be ashamed and you will want to confess with your mouth. 3. People are not going to get saved unless people preach about Christ or at least tell them about Him. We have the gospel of peace in our hearts and glad tidings! How can we not share that?
Romans 10 1. V. 2-3 Crazy how man of the Israelites were so zealous for religion but not for Christ. They were ignorant of Gods righteousness. They weren't believers. They weren't partakers. Yet they still lived with great passion even though it was for their own righteousness sake. I wish I could have that passion in living for Christ. Doing it out of love and gratitude for His righteousness... 2. V. 11 Whoever believes will not be ashamed. It is humbling to admit that our own way wasn't working and we need Christ's. If we truly have that humility we should have no reason for shame 3. V. 14 The bible teaches that people are primarily saved due to preaching. We sometimes think only when Christians have it together or are living right is when people will want to get saved. And that is somewhat true. But we can't just allow the world to watch us. There needs to be preaching of the word. So let's try to invite those who don't know Him to hear the word preached at our churches.
1. V 12-13 God doesn't have respect of persons he is the same God to all people. It says he is "rich" to all those who call upon him. He will be more than enough to all those who call to him. 2.V15how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things" Through my life and the different places I go, I should make my focus the gospel. Like I heard someone once say, we know the "cure" so to speak, and we have been healed among many dying people. Wouldn't it make sense to tell others the good news? We should be eager to share the gospel with a lost world. 3. 3. V 8-9 To meet the standards of the law(which by the way is impossible) you have to purposely try to be righteous and do good, but because we are no longer under the old testament law, we live by faith rather than works. When you believe something, you will prove that by the way you live. "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart". As Christians, we should live out the gospel through are conversation and lifestyle. Like Chase mentioned when he talked about the law, no longer are we doing this or that to be a good person and fulfill the law, but rather out of a love for God and others.
V3-4) People do this all the time, including myself! Try to establish our own "religion" or "doctrine" that doesn't involve God. I can't do this. I must show God off in everything that I do and it must be for the right reasons. I must and be willing to submit to God and follow Him not matter the circumstance. The rest of the chapter hits on the something I mentioned above. Christ must not just be a symbol or thought to me, He must be an action. I must show him in everything I do and prove that He lives in me. The chapter says that "everyone has heard the word, their voices have gone to the ends of the earth." This is not an excuse for me to stop acting Christian-like. God created us through His image, therefore I must reciprocate what God is.
V 3- we are so self centered sometimes. We oftentimes think we can do it all by ourselves and handle situations. It's obvious, as humans we can't handle everything ourselves so we need to submit ourselves to God in every way. He will get us through V 9- Gods plan of salvation. Thank you Lord for sending your son to be murdered on a cross for our sinful souls. We won't ever deserve the price you paid. V 11- whoever believes on Jesus will not be ashamed of His name. This makes me wonder how I call myself a Christian and yet in some situations, I'm ashamed to say His name.
1. vs.10: Is my heart's desire that people might be saved? I don't pray often enough for the salvation of my peers, America, and others in far away countries.
2. vs.11: "Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed." This verse actually makes me ashamed. It's hard for me to witness, and honestly I can't remember the last time I truly did. But if I believe in God, what is there to be ashamed of? What is it that I believe? "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel" or am I? Why am I not witnessing for Christ like I should? Why am I so concerned about my self image that I miss what God wants me to do. It's just shameful.
3. vs.15-17: Faith cometh by hearing...this concept rolled around in my head for a while. People have to HEAR about Jesus, for He is the only way to the Father. "NO man cometh unto the Father but by ME." How are people going to hear though? I think of the people I saw in Kenya this past summer. How will they know of JESUS? "And how shall they preach, except they be sent?" Praise God for missionaries. I can't stand the thought of people dying because the truth of Jesus didn't reach them.
