Today's passage: Hebrews 1

  1. V3: God literally holds the world together. We can trust Him.

V9: Happiness associated with loving what God loves and hating what He hates.

V12: God is the same! Everything/everyone changes. Not God. Love this attribute!

  2. V9 Words can't describe how much God hates sin. He turned his back on his son so he wouldn't have to see the sin on him. That's how much he hates it. And if we want to be like him, we need to hate it just as much.
V10 This is just another reminder of God's power. He basically created existence, if that made any sense, but you get it. He created reality. He knows every star in the sky by name. All million trillion of them! I'd say he's pretty powerful.
V11-12 God is constant. He never has or will change. Even after the earth is destroyed and recreated, he will be the same. That's pretty reassuring.

  3. Hebrews 1
I think this chapter gives us some key facts about our savior. Knowing there importance allows us to see him for who he really is. If we believe these things about him we wouldn't doubt his power like we often do. "Jesus isn't able to forgive me... I can't trust him with this... I know better than him... I don't think he knows what he's doing..." BUT he...
    1. V. 2 Made the world, is the heir of all things
    2. V. 4 is much more excellent than angels.
    3. Though his earth will perish, he will not. He is the same! Still today he has the same power and authority. Don't doubt God!

  4. 1. v 9 Love righteousness. Hate sin.
    2. v 10 God is the creator of everything and creation alone points to the fact that there is a God. Not just "a god", but a powerful, intelligent, infinite God.
    3. v 11-12 Everything changes, but God never does. He is the same through the ages.
