1. V. 1 be strong in the grace of God. Wow. let's don't criticize! Let's don't judge! Let's don't condemn. Gods message is the message of grace. Let's pour it on. When people come to us for help. We shouldn't strike the sin hammer on them. Instead we should show them how God will pour his grace all over there situation.
2. V. 3 I often have a low endurance level for hardness. I pray God will build that up. We should live for God with the commitment of a soldier....
3. V. 19 we cannot name Christ and name (live a life of) iniquity. They contradict each other. If say we are Christs, let's stop indulging in the devils work (iniquity).
1. vs 3: It's weird but I think of Roman gladiators and how hard they had to work and train for the purpose of staying alive in the arenas. As Christians, our purpose is to serve God...to be soldiers for Christ. I think of the things the gladiators had to endure (slander, physical/mental exhaustion, rigorous training, etc.) just to stay alive. So, to stay alive in Christ, I should rigorously train/prepare my heart and mind with studying the Gospel, I should expect persecution. I should do whatever it takes to live...because I AM a soldier of Christ.
2. vs 10: This verse is great! Nothing I endure or suffer is too great if souls are being saved for Christ. I should do everything in my power (that God allows) to find people and witness to them; whatever the cost!
3. 24: yes Yes YES! I lack severely in the areas of patience and "gentleness" towards everyone (because yes, people will irk me sometimes and I let it show). But Paul is instructing us how to be godly effective teachers, and that's in meekness and humility. Raging at someone will not teach them, it will be a stumbling block, and God won't be happy with me. I want to be a wholehearted servant of God; this verse is so compelling!
1. Vs 4: The words in this verse speak so true to me because I read it and it clearly states that any person who focuses on the matters of this world and the people in it can not focus on the matters of God and what he has for us. So if we do set our eyes on the Lord than He will show us so much more that we wouldn't have gotten if we had kept our path set on the world.
2. Vs 11: It's so hard to wrap my mind around the thought of really letting go of everything to God, because for me, having control is a big thing and if we are true Christians we should know that God is the REAL one in control and if we truly love him than we will give up all to him. "I surrender ALL, I surrender ALL, ALL to the my blessed Savior I surrender ALL." Giving our everything to him shouldn't make us feel like we've lost something but that we have gained something and someone so much more precious.
3. Vs 23: Its funny because, I myself know that I ask some of the dumbest and unintelligent questions ever, even when I know the answer to it! I have always been told "don't ask the question if you don't want to know the answer to it.", and in that is full on truth. Its hard to understand but, when we ask questions to God for me at least, it is when I am doubting him and his will for me. This verse helps because we know that God is not going to lead us down some road that he doesn't know the end to, so then it goes back to trusting and having faith that OUR God knows what he's doing. Why doubt a God who has never made a mistake and never will, but believe in someone or your self who wont have the slate of sin, mistakes, etc. wiped clean until we go to Heaven?
V. 9 Paul talked about how because of the gospel, he suffers like someone who "is an evil-doer". He says that he is bound because of it, but the word of God is not bound. God's word in not hindered by anything. Man may have tried to stop Paul from sharing the gospel, but they can never stop God and his word.
V. 22 not only should we not follow after lusts and ungodliness, but we should daily purse(seek after with your whole heart) godly things(righteousness/faith/love/peace).
V. 26 No person is ever to far beyond God's reach. He is able to change their life around.
2 Timothy 2

I like what you said about vs 19! We talked about those contradictions in Revival tonight...perhaps God's trying to tell me something, lol
