Today's passage: 2 Timothy 4

Today will be the last day of Second Timothy. Tomorrow we will skip to the book of James. After we finish James we will probably start Romans.

  1. 2 Timothy 4

    1. vs 4-5: This is a recurring theme throughout 1&2 Timothy. We know that people will reject the truth and we have to be careful that we don't fall into the same trap. We desperately need to evangelize and make the truth of the ministry known so we can reach lost people before they reject it.

    2. vs 6: Paul says "I am now ready to be offered". Paul's life was incredible...he says he "fought the good fight" and he has "kept the faith". As a reflection: am I ready to be offered? Am I living my life for the glory of God? If I were to be taken up into heaven today, what would the story of my life reveal about how I lived for God?

    3. vs 16-17: Even when everyone else fails us and no one will stand with us, God is always there. God will stand with us and that's the greatest strength and deliverance we ever need. I often get too caught up with needing "friends" or "supports". All that really matters is that I have a Father who will always stand by me.

    1. Hey I really like your first point. If you get a chance do you think you could write a summary of first and second Timothy? It could be short I just think it would be cool. You could do it as a post rather than a comment.

  2. 2 Timothy 4

    1. Vs 3: God knew even back then that people today and in the future will still not believe in him and his word, and even then through Paul he gave these words of warning to us Christians to be weary of these unbelievers. One day there will be a time when people really will just go their own way and turn away from God so we have to be watchful and in my opinion not give up on them and lose faith in the Lord because I believe that even when these people do start to draw away from God they should still be able to look at us Christians and see our lives and what the Lord has done for us.

    2. Vs 7: Wouldn't it be amazing to tell someone that "you have kept the faith" in the Lord? I wish that I could take back all the times that I have doubted God; I know personally when someone doubts what I say or what I did it in a sense hurts my feelings and so I can't even begin to think about how the Lord feels when we lose our faith in Him. This is something I think we will always have to work on, right up until we get to Heaven but, in the end it will be worth it all. "I have fought a good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith."

    3. Vs 16: This is pure evidence that even in the loneliest and darkest of times, when those who we thought were with us and for us abandon us... God will NEVER do that! Paul just like Job kept strong in the Lord even when the toughest of trials were given to him. Paul said "I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge." Just like Jesus said on the cross " farther forgive them for they know not what they do." It gets me every time when someone says those words, because he endured so much for us even when he knew the people who would never believe in him and yet even still he gave his life. What a great, powerful, and almighty Savior!

  3. 2 Timothy 4

    1. V. 2 Paul instructed Timothy to conduct his ministry in longsuffering... As Christians it's one of our jobs to represent the mercy and longsuffering of God. He is a God of second chances. For us, when we go about our areas of ministry we need to have the same attitude with people. We shouldn't be so quick to judge, condemn, and criticize even when the other person is in the wrong. Let's be longsuffering
    2. V. 7-8 no regrets! I really would love to be at the place spiritually where I am ready to die and meet my savior. I am definitely not there yet.
    God keep refining me
    3. V. 22 I really like how Paul closes his letters. "Grace be with you". It helps me realize that anything done for God is done out of his grace. We desperately need his grace....everyday

    1. V. 7 At the end of my life will i be able to say " I have fought the good fight, i have finished the course well, i have kept my faith" or will i look back seeing all I did was vain(like Solomon at the end of his life "all is vanity". I want to have look back on my life and not regret wasting years seeking after things/pleasures that are meaningless. But rather look back and see that I finished the race and lived all out for God.

    2. V. 17 God is faithful when others aren't. He is always there to help you, he will give you the strength to live for him.

    3. V. 5 Endure the hard things that might come your way for living a godly life. Endure the harassment. Endure the difficulty of standing up for God. Endure the struggle of living for him. It's worth it, so endure.
