1. God is perfectly just. He allows no compromises or ends justifying the means. We are the liars and sinners and He is the judge. When we try to change that by making ourselves the judge, we are saying we are wiser than God. 2. In v. 10-18, Paul quotes a lot of scripture, mostly from Psalms, about how wicked every single man or woman ever to live is. Romans 3:23 is not the only verse that condemns me. That condemning truth is scattered all throughout the book. The more I am reminded of my sin, the more I am brought to my knees at his feet. 3. I have two choices of how I can get to heaven: follow the law perfectly or accept Jesus' payment that removes sin. In other words, Jesus is my only hope. "Justified" means it's like i had never sinned. That means with Christ's redemption, I technically satisfy the law through His blood. Thank God for His love and grace! There will be no boasters in Heaven because we will all have made it there the same way.
V11: We don't naturally seek after God. There is NONE that seeks after Him. Thankfully, He seeks us!
V13-18: We are summed up as sinners in these verses: We are cussing, bitter liars, who don't fear God, and who are MISERABLE. Reminds me of the verse: The way of the transgressor is hard. While there is pleasure in sin for a season, ultimately, we are miserable apart from Christ.
V25-26: I've been justified to declare His righteousness, so that others might believe in Him.
This chapter seemed to all talk about about the relatively same point, so instead of giving points I'll just tell about what I think of the chapter as a whole. Simply put, we are all sinners. I know that's a little obvious but it's true. We have all broken God's law at once point or another. Verses 9, 10 & 23 prove this, and verses 11-19 back this up and describe a person in the flesh. So, if we are all sinners, verse 9 brings up the point that it is pretty much pointless to argue about if one person is better than another, because we are all under sin. And even when we do argue about that, our minds are closed because of sin do we really can't even make a legitimate argument about who's better than who. So instead of focusing on arguing over point less things like those, we should be focusing on our spiritual life. God created a way to freely redeem us from all our sins. FREELY! That means we don't have to do anything to receive it. Good works won't get you any closer to salvation. Why? Because it's already free! So, if we don't have to do anything to earn it, then what do we have to boast about? We didn't do anything to deserve it. If we best about how we were so good we got saved (which first of means you might not be saved because you believe works can get you there), then what we are really doing is ignoring the fact of Jesus's terrible any he went through in his beatings and crucifixion to get us out salvation. I don't ever want to forget about that. Jesus died for me, and I did absolutely nothing to deserve it. I can't repay him for it. I can't do anything to try and deserve it a little more. He knew that, and still died for me. Thank you Lord
1. V. 10-18 In these verses the sinful human soul is exposed. We as humans are so sinful. We are anything but righteous. 2. 19-20 The law shows are imperfections in contrast to the holiness of God. Next to the law, we see how short we fall of God's standard. "There is none good, no not one" We will never be able to meet up to God's righteousness. 3 .24-27 But it doesn't end there. God sent his son, to make not only to live a just life, but to justify us(V 24). None of this is because of what we have done. We cannot be righteous by our own works. Because of the cross, we as believers are made righteous in God's eyes. We have so much to be thankful for. In our sin, Christ made us guiltless. Wow.
Romans 3 1. V. 9- All are under sin. There is none righteous... We are all condemned by the law. We have all broken it and are therefore equal until we trust in the one who can justify us. 2. V. 20 the law brings the knowledge of sin. It shows us how filthy we are compared to a perfect and holy God. 3. I really like v. 24 "being justified freely". No cost attached. It is a gift. Thank you Jesus
1. vs.13: "the poison of asps is under their lips." Our hearts and mouths are full of corruption and guilty before God. You know the common phrase "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me." To me, this verse is saying that words are like poison if used wrongly. I hate hurting peoples feelings but every now and then I will say something venomous. I need to not only guard my heart, but also my tongue.
2. vs.23: "glory" means dignity, honor, praise, and worship. We have come short of the glory of God. So we fall short of His praise, His honor, and His worship. How humbling. There is nothing in this world that would magnify me enough to be praised of God. Praise God for being supernatural and freeing us by His grace.
3. vs.28: We're learning about Martin Luther in class right now. Did you know that when Luther translated the Bible into German, he added the word "alone" to this verse? So it would read "...a man is justified by faith alone..." Think about what "alone" means to you, then apply it. Even though that word may not have been specifically inspired by God in this context, how would you feel if it was still there today?

I like how you phrased #3, Michael! This is a great way to witness. Two choices. One is mpossible. So you're left with the only other option.
