First John 5 1. V. 4, 5 Those who are born of God have overcome the world. We have victory! We should live fearless 2. V. 13 Knowing if we are Gods child is vital. That's why the word was written. So we can know we have eternal life 3. V. 21 interesting way to close out his letter. But really it is so appropriate today. Idols are often times not acknowledged until they have overtaken everything and u can't let go. Let's not let idols creep in and take the place of God in our life.
1. v 3 To love God is to obey him. 2. v 45 God gives us the victory. Our God is greater, stronger, and awesome in power. 3. v 14 God hears our prayer and will answer it if it is according to his will. We should desire what God desires. We don't need to change God's will, but line ours up with his.
V3: His commandments are not burdensome. Our legalistic rules are very burdensome. Working your way to heaven would be beyond burdensome. But loving God and obeying Him and loving people is not burdensome. If it is to me then I'm not in agreement with Christ.
V5: This verse clears up much confusion about exactly what it means to be an overcomer. If you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, you are an overcomer!
V12: Love how very simple salvation is! He who has the Son has life. Period.
