1 John 2 1. V. 3 we know that we know him if we keep his commandments. Simple. Want to test if you know God...do you obey his commandments? Are you concerned about what God wants... Also a reminder that just bc we are no longer under the law doesn't mean we should not do our best to obey his commandments. 2. V. 6 Those who claim Christ must abide in him. If someone whose lifestyle is contrary to Christ claims God then he is misrepresenting Christ. We have the ability to both represent Gods goodness and to misrepresent his ways. Sometimes Christians can be the greatest stumbling block for a lost person 3. V. 17 temporary or eternal. The world is all caught up in the temporary only. We should not fall into this trap. The things of God abide forever
1. v2 He was the propitiation for OUR sins and the sins of the whole world. In my bible, I had written "a great sacrifice" beside this verse. He gave up so much and bore a huge amount of guilt and anger because of our sin. All for what? To save people who hated him. To rescue filthy, wicked sinners who nailed him there. What a sacrifice, what great love. 2. v15 When I read this verse I was reminded of a few years back at the anchorage when we studied this passage. We talked about how it can be so easy to get caught up in the world., but that God will give us the strength we need to live for him. God wants our full devotions to him, instead of being "half in" or distracted by other thing. Help me God to love you and you alone. 3. v 16-17 One day it will all go away. Every pleasure, gain of success, popularity, or money. But living for God counts for more than this world-but for eternity. Just think of how unsettling to be saved, but living for worldly stuff. Then One day it's all over and they see all they ever lived for just vanish. They will see what a waste. Why wait till it's too late?(v 28)

Thought: If I really love God I WILL OBEY HIM. That is how he wants to be loved. That is His love language.
