Galatians 4 1. V. 7 I thinks it's so awesome that God allows us to be called his children. We ought to take pride in that. We have a perfect father. Let's represent him 2. Paul asked if they really wanted to be in bondage again. Many were turning back to their old masters. Faithfulness to God is a real struggle and can only happen with Gods help 3. Paul confronted them that they were making him their enemy because he told them the truth. Today, our pride is on that same level. If someone tells us something we don't want to hear, though it is true, we make them our enemy
Vs. 4-6: God sent His Son to redeem us from our sin. We, as Christians, no longer have to live under the law.
Vs. 7: God calls His children His sons and daughters. It is so comforting to know we have a Heavenly Father who truly cares for us and treats us as His own.
Vs. 8: All through the rest of the chapter, Paul warns against turning back to their old ways. It is so easy to forget the God who saved us and who made us who we are today! I need to be more thankful for the change He made in me!
1. V. 6-7 Now that we've been adopted, we have an instilled desire for our Father. We are sons and heirs and we will one day inherit eternal life! 2. Abraham is used as an example of how following the flesh will always turn out bad. He had the son by the maid and to this day that other line of descendants hate Israel and want destroy them. All because of one act in the flesh. Bad choices reap worse consequences. 3. V. 28-29 This speaks about the "children" of the flesh and children of promise in that we are Gods children. However, we are warned of the persecution and hate that will come from the other side, a world full of people without God and with nothing but their flesh.
1. God has adopted us and now we have a child/father relationship with him. He isn't a slave master, but rather a father who loves us more than we can imagine. 2. V 4 At the right time, God sent his son down to earth to save us from our sin. God already knew we would need a Saviour and had a perfect plan. 3. 3 & 5 We were in bondage to the world, but Christ redeem us and set us free.
v6: We have been adopted and can cry Abba Father! Sadly, so many people have not had decent dads and do not like to think of God as their "dad" but He is the perfect dad.
V13: Paul had an infirmity in the flesh that he mentions often. I heard someone say recently that maybe it was blindness, and what he wrote here about the new believers being willing to pluck out there own eyes to give to him would line up with that.
V21. Even though Paul was diplomatic, there came a time when he began to question the intellect of those who believed that their works could save them.
