Colossians 2 1. V. 7 stablished in the faith. Built. Rooted. We aren't supposed to get saved and stay entry level Christians. Christ has called us to more than than that. He wants us to be firm in our faith and continually growing in him. 2. V. 10 Complete in him. Sounds so "complete" lol. We are completed in Christ. He is enough. He saves, fills, and satisfies 3. V. 23 We should in no way satisfy the flesh. Everything we do should be to satisfy the spirit. We satisfy the spirit, the spirit will get stronger and the flesh get weaker
1. V 6-7 Know what you believe-be rooted and grounded in what you believe. Apply the things youve learned to your life. Simple put-live all out for Christ. 2. V 10 "And ye are complete in him." First thing that came to my mind were these lyrics "Complete in thee, no work of mine may take dear Lord the place of thine. Thy blood hath pardon bought for me, and I am now complete in thee" 3. V 13-14 We are forgiven, he has blotted out our sin. These verses remind me of a illustration I read once, heres part of it : I found myself in the room. One wall was covered with small index-card files. They were like the ones in libraries that list titles by author or subject in alphabetical order. But these files, which stretched from floor to ceiling and seemingly endless in either direction, had very different headings. Some brought joy and sweet memories; others a sense of shame and regret so intense that I would look over my shoulder to see if anyone was watching. Some titles were 'Thing I Have Done in Anger,' 'Things I Have Muttered Under My Breath at My Parents.' I never ceased to be surprised by the contents. Each was written in my own handwriting. Each signed with my signature. One thought dominated my mind: 'No one must ever see these cards! No one must ever see this room! I have to destroy them!'I could not dislodge a single card. I became desperate and pulled out a card, only to find it as strong as steel when when I tried to tear it.... I saw Him. No, please not Him. Not here. Oh, anyone but Jesus. I watched helplessly as He began to open the files and read the cards. Starting at one end of the room, He took out a file and, one by one, began to sign His name over mine on each card. 'No!' I shouted, rushing to Him. All I could find was to say was 'No, no,' as I pulled the card from Him. His name shouldn't be on these cards. But there it was, written in red so rich, so dark, so alive. The name of Jesus covered mine. It was written with His blood. I stood up, and He led me out of the room. There was no lock on its door. There were still cards left to be written."
V6 Once we are saved, our journey is not over. It's just begun. We can't just say "Okay, I'm guaranteed an eternity in heaven. Doesn't matter what I do now so let's just party." If we have been saved by the mercy of Christ Jesus, we are called to walk with him. That is a daily challenge. The other day, I heard an awesome short little testimony (for lack of a better word) from Mr. Mark. Basically, he said that if we choose not to do our devotion one day, then we are really telling God that we are good enough that we don't need him that day. That really challenged me, and that was the first thing I thought of when I read this verse. We don't only walk with him because we are called to do so, but because we need him so desperately. V8 With all the science and technology we have today, it's really easy to get caught up in all these philosophical and evolutionary ideas. It seems like every day there's some new "groundbreaking discovery". Every day it will be harder to stand and defend Christianity and its biblical truths. But also, mankind has always been like that. But we still had Paul. The disciples still preached after Jesus left. We still have thousands of missionaries and preachers today. We just need to make sure our beliefs are biblical and trust in God, and he will give us strength to stand day to day. V13&14 I don't think we will ever fully understand the mystery of God's love for us on the cross. It's wonder is just so vast. Christ took every sin that every person that has or ever will live has our will commit and put it all on him, and suffered God's full wrath and punishment for it while hanging naked on a tree with nails in his hands and feet and a crown of thorns smashed into his head. And because of that we are forgiven. We don't have to suffer God's wrath for our sins because Christ suffered it for us. God died to save something he created. It's like dying to save your second grade drawing of your family. Why? I don't think that we will ever, at least not in these bodies, be able to comprehend that.

V6-7: Walk in Christ. Let your faith be established. Be thankful.
ReplyDeleteV8: Sadly, there is so much of this going on. If we are not grounded, and studying God's word, we can be easily deceived.
V20: If we truly believe that Christ is OUR ONLY HOPE OF SALVATION then we won't get caught up in rituals and traditions.
