Today's passage: Galatians 2

  1. v16: There is just no way that anyone who has read the Bible can believe that it teaches that we are saved by works! There are so many verses that teach that our faith is the only "work" Christ accepts.

v18: Under no circumstances should my life be building back up the things which Christ has helped to tear down in my life. It's so hard to break sinful habits, and so easy to fall back into them! God give me strength!

V20: The life I now live is by faith!

  2. 1. V 16 Being justified through works can't happen. Faith is the only way in which we are saved.
    2. V 21 Such a good point, if we try to gain salvation through works, then it's like were saying that the cross wasn't enough. If works was the way, Christ coming would have been pointless. The cross is enough.
    3. V 20 I'm alive in Christ. No longer do i live, but Christ in me. This is so amazing, because on my own, I could never resist temptation...but because of his strength I can. On my own, I could never have victory...but because of him I can. This is the case with so many things. I don't have to be defeated, Christ lives in me.

  3. Galatians 2
    V. 21 last years youth group. Stuck in my head... I was crucified on the Cross with Christ. Now he lives through me. There is no longer room for "i" in my(his) life.
    V. 16 so many times in the Bible it makes it very clear that works don't justify our standing with God. Amazes me how many people out there who claim the Bible also claim works as a part of their salvation. Thank God we aren't saved by works. I would never stand a chance.
I sensed the idea in this chapter and all of Romans that Paul is constantly telling the recipients not to focus on the small things or traditions. Though on a completely different realm, we sadly do the same thing today.

  4. Vs. 16: We are not justified by our works but by faith in Jesus Christ. We don't have to pay the price for our sin. It is already paid!

Vs. 19: The law was God's way of showing us how imperfect and unholy we are. We don't have to live according to the law but unto God. I need to seek to please God.

Vs. 20: I need to live with the reality that now that I am saved, Christ lives in me.

  5. 1. V. 14 There is a lot of tension between the Gentiles and Jews because the Jews are God's chosen people and feel they are more righteous because of their law or something. This verse pretty much says when you boil it down, nothing matters is you aren't living right. If you are living like an unsaved person, stop trying to get the unsaved people to "live right" and don't be bothered when they don't.
    2. V. 18 This is something I really struggle with. One I defeat a temptation or bad habit, I find it hard to keep away long term. Consistency is sometimes the hardest part of living for God.
    3. V. 20 Who I was is completely defeated and crucified. The only reason I'm still alive is because Christ liveth in me. He loved me and gave himself for me. There is no better reason for me to choose to live.
