1. vs.11-12: It's a shame that Paul has to even bring this subject up. "Awake out of sleep: for NOW is our salvation is nearer than when we believed." It's true. Everyday that goes by brings us one day closer to death or the Rapture. It reminds me that I should walk around in this world asleep in my faith, but let it roam around with me, touching peoples lives and making a difference for the glory of God.
2. vs.12: Put on the armour of light. To protect ourselves from the dark, and from evil we must let our Light shine.
3. vs.14: Verse 12 says put on the armour of light. Verse 14 says put on the Lord Jesus Christ. We have accepted God as our Savior. It's now time to show this outwardly and not just keep it to ourselves. I think of it almost as putting on God, literally. Almost like a costume, so that people see Him when they look at me, and not myself.
V1-7: No two ways about it...we are told to obey our government, and have a good attitude towards them.
V11: Now it is high time to wake out of sleep. So easy to just sort of float through life. Not really actively seeking the Lord. This is a good reminder
V12 Put on the armor of LIGHT. I like this wording. Don't think I've noticed it before.
Romans 13 1. V. 8-10 the law of love. It's awesome how Paul (Jesus also did in the gospels) summed up every command in the Old Testament law (concerning other people) with love your neighbor as yourself. We are all so loved by God. His love abounds. He is love. Apart from God, we do not have what it takes to love others. We need his love to burst through us. So convicting for me.... I think about how much love and priority I put on myself and my own agenda and imagine if I loved others in that same way... It's His command 2. V. 11 It's time to wake up! Enough careless and pointless living. Let's redeem the time. We only have this one life to give back to God. 3. V. 12-14 because the time is running out we need to get serious. There are some things we need to put off. We need to get rid of all worldliness and anything closely associated. We have to stop setting ourselves up for sin and lust. Rather, we need to put on Christ. We ought show God how much we really love him. Is our love for him shallow as it appears. Going to church is not enough...
1. V 1-7 We need to honor the authorities in our life. I know right here it mentions rulers, but I also think this could apply to parents as well. God has placed them in our life for our good. By dishonoring them, we dishonor him. 2. 8-10 Love fulfills the law. 3. V 11-14 I love these verses. I find them so motivating. Too much of our life has been wasted, it's about time we get serious about living for God.
