Today's passage: Romans 14

  1. v10: We shall all stand before the judgement seat of Christ. This is a sobering thought.

Not specific verses, but groups talking about our testimony "in house" or among other Christians. The chapter clearly says to be convinced in your own mind and then not condemn yourself. I take this to mean that I'm to prayerfully examine my convictions and make the choices that God leads me to make and leave it at that. If something would cause my sister/brother in Christ to stumble, then I should be a person who is humble enough to give it up. Not because it is forbidden by Christ, but for the other person's sake.

V17: The kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Not making a big deal out of things that don't matter much. Not judging everyone for everything they do or say. Not feeling better than someone for not doing something they do.

  2. 1.V 6 Don't focus on the action so much, but the heart behind the action. So many times we do "good things", but have a totally wrong motive. One day, we will have to give an account of how we lived our lives to God.
    2. 10-12 We shouldn't judge others for the things they do, because all we see is the outside, not the heart. God knows-and thats all that matters.
3.V 15-19 We should be considerate of others in our liberty. We should seek to build others up and help them grow, rather than cause them to stumble.

  3. V7 "For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself." The way I basically read this, is that you can't completely live under a rock your entire life and have no influence on anything. We can't keep to ourselves completely. Yes, some people have more influence than others, but we all have an influence on the world in some way. And since we as people have an influence on the world, everything we do, and even don't do, impacts someone else's life. So, if we impact the world, whether we're trying to or not, what will our impact be? It needs to be for Christ. We need to let Christ shine through us and impact the world for him. No matter how small and insignificant you may feel, God is great, and can do amazing things through you. If we just love and serve him every day, we can impact the world for him.
V10 "But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ." This is a pretty simple verse with a simple truth. First of, what good does it really do for us to judge each other? I'm not talking about in court our whatever, but in our daily lives. It's really pointless. Personally, I think it's a sin to judge one another. And chances are, we've done, or will do, the same thing! So we're just being hypocrites by judging each other. We need to leave the judging to God, who is the just judge, and instead focus on our walk with him. After all, we all all stand before him one day to be judged. So instead of using each other, we should encourage and strengthen each other. Plus, I think that would be a whole lot more productive.
V12 "So then every one of us will give an account of himself to God." This is just a good wake-up call. One day, we will have to stand in front of God and give an account of our lives. And we won't have time to prepare or write a speech our anything. And we can't lie our way through it, either. He will know every single thing we've done in our lives, and ask us what we've done for him. What will we say to that? I think that's a good thing to think about when we wake up in the morning. What will we do for Christ today? If we truly apply this verse and its meaning to our lives, I believe it could really change us. It really makes me want to live my life for Christ, because he's all that matters.

    1. We should not judge each other bc of our convictions on certain grey area things. We are to be concerned about our own walk and showing Christ's love to others regardless of position or conviction. Everyone is accountable for their own actions and God is the judge.
    2. I should be constantly aware that I can be a stumbling block to others. This is one of my biggest fears because I know I often am. I want to learn to edify others with my actions rather than slow them down.
    3. If done in doubt it is sin. God wants us to have confidence. We need to have faith in every area of life. Faith is key
