Romans 15 1. We were not created to love for ourselves. We were created for more than something so insignificant. We are to follow Christ's example. Help the needy. Edify all 2. V. 13. So glad that we have hope! Whatever situation or person...there is hope. Christ has power. Thankful to have experienced that power in my life and looking forward to (hope) how he will guide me and change me by that power. 3. Towards the end of the chapter I love how Paul had a selfless desire to come to Rome. He was solely doing to it to glorify God and for the their good. His desires were matched up with Gods. I pray that I can to be one who has aligned their thinking with Gods. I want to be only focused on how I can glorify God and serve others.
1. V. 5-6 There's always so much criticism, strife, and gossip among believers in the church. We need to be like-minded and Christlike. Instead of rejecting each other and cutting down we are supposed to help our brother where he is weak and receive him with Christ's love. Worshipping God together is so helpful and easy. Let's focus on becoming one body, the bride of Christ. 2. I wish I could've heard Paul present the gospel and preach when he was alive. He couldn't hold it back. He was so passionate that he just wanted to preach everywhere and he did! I hope one day I can grow this same love and zeal for the furtherance for the gospel. 3. Near the closing of the letter he asks for prayer. He know his ministry in Jerusalem and Judea will be tough. He even knows that someone will probably try to kill him. But he goes anyway. What faith! Also the importance of prayer is seen when he also asks the Romans to pray for the people to accept his message. Paul believed prayer made a difference. Do we? We say we do, but really? God give us true faith.
1. V 4- we will have hope if we are patient. God has certainly taught me a lot about patience lately. When my grandma got diagnosed with cancer, the first thing that went through my head was why and I wanted to know why then. I've learned that we may never know why until we get to ask God that question ourselves, in heaven. I know The Lord will heal if I am patient and put my faith and trust in Him everyday. Patience is definitely a virtue. 2. V 6- glorify God always. I'm so guilty of looking at the bad things that are happening in my life, that I overlook all the gifts God provides for me everyday. Even when things are rough I need to learn to glorify God for them because without them I would never learn. 3. Paul had strived to preach the gospel everywhere he could in the end of this chapter. I pray that I would have that kind of motivation in my life to witness to all of the lost people in this world that I often forget about.
1. 1-3 Christ came to earth and set the perfect example of how to ignore self and care for others. He didn't make himself a priority, but took on the burdens of others. 2. 32 When we go to church and fellowship with other Christians we should be refreshed. Sadly, too often drama and disagreements are everywhere in the church. Instead of going that path, we should help make a refreshing atmosphere. 3. V 4 "that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope". How true! I can recall many times the word of God has provided peace and encouragement during hard times. We don't have to loose hope, we can find comfort in God's word.
V4 The entire universe could not contain all that could have been written in the Bible. The things that were written were written for OUR LEARNING and OUR COMFORT and TO GIVE US HOPE. Amen!
V20-21: Paul wasn't looking to take believers from other congregations, he was looking to share the gospel with those who have never heard. I've had the opportunity to share the gospel with many latinos that have never heard it. There is something motivating about that. It makes you want to find others who have never heard. This was a reminder to me to keep the main thing the main thing.
Several verses mention getting along. In the world, I expect to not agree with most people. But in the church I sometimes expect to agree, or somehow am bothered that we do not all agree on everything. Paul encourages us not to strive, but live peaceably with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
