Today's passage: Romans 16

  1. V17 We are warned to avoid people who cause divisions, and of course, not be people that cause them!

V25: I love verses that mention the power of God, and I also love ones that mention our being established. This verse has both!

V27: "God only wise." In case we forget that He is really the only wise one! We are exhorted to not be wise in our own eyes. To give all the glory and all the praise to the our wise God!

  2. Romans 16
    1. V. 17 avoid those who twist the faith. People who change biblical doctrine by a deceiving approach. They don't serve God, but rather their self. The simple are deceived because it sounds so good. This is very common in America today. False teachers are everywhere. We need to discern and avoid.
    2. V. 19 Wise unto that which is good and simple concerning evil. So often we study, meditate, and are indoctrinated by evil rather than good. We spend more time watching tv full of evil than we do reading about Gods goodness. Let's study the good. Let's be students of light
    3. To God ONLY be glory. What a humble way to close his letter. I often times want God to get the glory for something he did through me. But in all honesty I like getting some, even when I say give God glory. I want to be as selfless as a Paul was. I pray God will bring me to that point.

  3. 1. V. 17-18 Look out for false teachers! They are everywhere nowadays just like in ancient Rome. They say things that sound good to themselves and they will probably sound good to us too. I don't want to be deceived or "simple" to fall into this trap.
    2. V. 25-26 Salvation as we know it today used to be a mystery and secret. Now Christ had revealed himself to us when He lived, died, and rose again. We can know and dwell with with an infinite almighty God. That blows my mind.

  4. 1. V17 Avoid those who teach false doctrines.
    2. V 19 Wow, Paul said that they were known by there obedience. Are we known by our heart for God and desire to please him?
    3. V 25-26 The gospel has been made manifest. Christ has come and died for our sin. At the end of the verse it points out that it is "made known to all nations for the obedience of faith". The gospel requires a response in order for it to become effective in our life. It requires faith.
